Meet Arliss Kurtz

Arliss Kurtz is an independent, registered clinical social worker with more than 30 years of experience across early childhood education, child welfare, mental health, and forensic settings.

In her private practice, she primarily provides therapy and assessment services for children and youth, addressing a wide range of emotional, behavioural, social, and mental health concerns. She also works closely with caregivers to support parenting challenges and strengthen healthy family connections. Arliss has extensive experience supporting young people who have experienced trauma, abuse, adversity, or loss.

Alongside her clinical expertise, Arliss is a registered yoga teacher (RYT 200). She often integrates mindfulness, breathwork, and meditation into her sessions, offering a holistic approach that promotes resilience and well-being.

Arliss has specialized training in providing therapy for children and youth who engage in problematic or harmful sexual behaviours, as well as conducting juvenile psycho-sexual risk assessments. Her therapeutic approach is grounded in trauma-informed care and draws from multi-systemic, cognitive-behavioural, solution-focused, and strength-based models. Her work emphasizes recovery, healthy lifestyle choices, therapeutic parenting strategies, and stronger attachments between youth and their caregivers. She also collaborates with professionals across systems to ensure coordinated, compassionate support for each young person.

In addition to her clinical work, Arliss is a certified presenter of the Mental Health First Aid Standard and Basic curriculum. She offers professional development workshops tailored to staff training needs, delivered virtually or on-site.
